Júce Sport Greens Review: A Dietitian’s Perspective

This budget-friendly greens powder goes big on ingredients and purported benefits, but it lacks the nutritional value as other powders.

Júce Sport Greens Review: A Dietitian’s Perspective
In this article:
In this article:

The dietary supplement landscape is always changing, and as a dietitian, I make a point to test and vet new products so I can offer the best guidance to my clients. Júce Sport Greens is a low-cost greens powder packed with superfoods, adaptogenic herbs, medicinal mushrooms, prebiotics, antioxidants, and more. It’s an intriguing formula, but after close inspection, I’m left feeling skeptical.

For roughly the same price, an alternative such as Live it Up Super Greens offers more nutritional value and comprehensive support. Let’s dig into the facts about Júce Sport Greens to see just how it stacks up to the competition. In this review, I’ll share:

Bottom Line: Is Júce Sport Greens Worth a Try?

Júce Sport Greens packs a lot of ingredients into each serving, but ultimately seems to spread itself thin. It simply doesn't have the comprehensive vitamin and mineral content of other greens powders like Live it Up Super Greens or AG1. In my opinion, Live it Up offers the best balance between nutrition and bang for your buck.

Compared to Júce Sport Greens, Live it Up Super Greens has:
✅ Concentrated superfoods
✅ 4x the vitamins and minerals
✅ Two delicious flavors
✅ Always free shipping

What Is Terra Kai Organics Júce Greens?

What Is Terra Kai Organics Júce Greens?

Terra Kai Organics was founded by CEO Adrian Vicente with the mission of making affordable, accessible, and high-quality organic products. The company sources food ingredients from organic farmlands and freeze-dries them to preserve their nutritional value. Its Júce line of products includes several other superfood powders and plant-based protein powders, as well as fruit and veggie capsules and gummies.

Júce Sport Greens is a daily greens powder supplement with pea protein, prebiotics, probiotics, and fiber. Each serving contains 30 calories and 5g of carbs.

Júce Pros

  • Contains prebiotics, a digestive enzyme, and antioxidants
  • No added sugars
  • Relatively low cost compared to most greens powders
  • USDA-Certified Organic and non-GMO
  • Vegan, soy-free, and gluten-free

Júce Cons

  • Only provides 5 vitamins and minerals
  • Medicinal mushroom content is underdosed
  • It’s unclear how much of its probiotic content is viable
  • Sweetened with stevia, giving it a slight artificial taste
  • Contains soy and the filler rice hull

Júce Sport Greens Purported Benefits

Júce makes several claims about the health benefits of its Sport Greens powder. Let’s examine them more closely.

#1: Performance and Recovery

There is some evidence that medicinal mushrooms like the ones in Júce Sport Greens can help with cognitive performance and memory. However, the tiny dosage of mushrooms in each serving of Júce Sport Greens is nowhere near what has been shown to provide these effects.

It’s more likely (but still not certain) that Júce Sport Greens can aid somewhat in recovery from physical or mental stress. Its Antioxidant Blend, which accounts for 2 grams in the Júce Sport Greens formula, contains herbal adaptogens such as ashwagandha root that may help manage stress. While not a huge dose, it’s substantial enough that it may offer some benefits.

#2: Gut Health Support

Júce claims that the 3g of fiber in Sport Greens provides digestive support. Many of the fruits, vegetables, and grains in its formula are good sources of dietary fiber, which can help with constipation and aid with bowel movements. The formula also includes bromelain, a digestive enzyme that can assist with nutrient absorption.

It’s worth noting that while probiotics are also shown to support gut health, the probiotic content of Júce Sport Greens is listed by weight rather than by colony-forming units (CFU). This indicates to me that the quality of the probiotics might be poor, which I’ll explain more in the Ingredient Breakdown below.

#3: Immune Support

Júce notes that its mushroom blend may help with immune support. Again, I don't believe the dosage contained in a serving of Sport Greens is adequate to justify this claim. There are, however, several antioxidant-rich ingredients that could support immune health by disarming free radicals produced naturally by the body. Júce also provides 82% DV of zinc, a critical nutrient for natural defenses, but I would have liked to see other immune-supporting nutrients like vitamins A, C, D and selenium.

Júce Sport Greens Ingredient Breakdown

Júce breaks its USDA organic ingredients into several key blends that target different benefits.

Júce Sport Greens Ingredient Breakdown

Protein Greens and Superfoods

Júce Sport Greens displays its pea protein content front and center on the packaging, and it's listed as the first ingredient in the Organic Protein Greens blend. The other protein-contributing greens include nutrient-dense spinach, blue-green algae spirulina, and laminaria kelp. The Organic Superfood Blend rounds out a list of more than a dozen great greens, fruits, and veggies that I’d hope to see in any greens powder, including barley grass, wheat grass, alfalfa leaf, broccoli, carrot, apple, spinach, and more.

Unfortunately, despite all these great ingredients, there are very few vitamins and minerals listed on the container. I see the full daily value of vitamin B12, but only 3g of protein and no other vitamins to speak of. This is in stark contrast to a more comprehensive formula like that of Live it Up Super Greens, which contains 22 vitamins and minerals derived naturally from its superfood content.

Mushrooms

The Júce Sport Greens formula contains several medicinal mushrooms, including reishi, lion’s mane, cordyceps, and turkey tail. These have been used as medicines since ancient times, and recent studies show some evidence that they could positively affect immune function, cognitive performance, and stress levels. As I noted above, the 25mg mushroom dosage in a single serving of Sport Greens is extremely low and unlikely to have much impact.

Prebiotics

Júce Sport Greens contains blue agave inulin and Jerusalem artichoke inulin, both prebiotic fibers with potential benefits that include possible support for gut health and immune health. The recommended daily intake to see these potential benefits is at least 3 grams, and Júce Sport Greens falls short with only 2 grams per serving.

Probiotic Blend

Júce includes 12mg of the probiotic Bacillus coagulans, which could possibly help relieve constipation and stomach pains. However, its probiotic content is listed in milligrams, which is unusual. Current regulations are such that probiotic content listed by weight can consist of both live and dead organisms. This means there is no way to know how much viable probiotic volume is actually in Júce Sport Greens.

Contrast this with Live it Up Super Greens, which contains 5 billion CFU of probiotics—that's well within the recommended dosage—plus a blend of digestive enzymes.

Dietitian Tip: Dosages in supplement probiotic blends can range from millions up to 200 billion CFUs. However, dosages between 5 and 10 billion CFU have been shown to be most effective.

Other Ingredients

Júce also lists several additional ingredients, including Reb A stevia, a natural sweetener that many perceive as artificial-tasting. There are a few other additives listed, namely lecithin and rice hull concentrate. Because they’re not included in any of the five blends above, it’s possible that these ingredients were included as fillers rather than for any sort of nutritional value.

For example, rice hull concentrate is often used in supplement powder manufacturing as an anti-sticking agent that doesn’t violate organic labeling rules. It takes up space in the Júce Sport Greens formula where I’d rather see more superfood ingredients with actual health benefits. This is one reason I prefer Live it Up Super Greens, which doesn’t rely on additives to fill out its formula.

Júce Sport Greens Quality and Safety

Júce Sport Greens is manufactured in the U.S. using organic ingredients sourced from North and South America. Like Live it Up Super Greens, all Terra Kai Organics products are tested by third-party laboratories in GMP-certified facilities to ensure they're non-GMO and free from pesticides, heavy metals, toxins, and other contaminants. Júce Sport Greens is also vegan, dairy-free, soy-free, and gluten-free.

Did You Know? Dietary supplements don’t require pre-approval from the FDA or other regulatory bodies before entering the market. Instead, reputable supplement producers work with third parties to test and certify their products for safety and effectiveness.

Júce Sport Greens Cost Analysis

When it comes to price, Júce is a relatively affordable greens powder.

  • A one-time purchase costs $34.99 for 30 servings ($1.17 per serving).
  • A monthly subscription brings the cost down to $31.49 ($1.05 per serving).
  • Shipping costs $5.15, as Terra Kai Organics only offers free shipping on orders over $100.

There is no information on the company's website about its return policy, so there's no guarantee that returns or refunds are available if you're not satisfied with the product. Customer reviews on Amazon suggest that Júce Sport Greens is not returnable.

Compare that to Live it Up Super Greens. Coming in at $39.99, or $1.33 per serving, Live it Up costs slightly more than Júce Sport Greens. However, after you factor in shipping costs, Júce Sport Greens ends up costing just slightly more, since Live it Up charges no shipping fees and has a clear return policy if you’re unsatisfied (30-day money-back guarantee)!

Júce Super Greens Taste Review

Júce Sport Greens is a relatively new product with just one flavor: Mixed Berry. A grassy greens taste dominates the flavor profile, and I detected a mild artificial sweetness. The ingredients list Rebaudioside A, a low-dose stevia isolate, which is likely where that aftertaste comes from. I personally prefer the more balanced, refreshing sweetness of Live it Up Super Greens, which is made with monk fruit extract.

As far as texture goes, Júce Sport Greens mixes well with some effort. It remains a bit grainy and you may find some settling at the bottom of your juice or smoothie if you let it sit for too long.

Customer reviews for Júce Sport Greens are largely positive, with some customers even reporting that it tastes great:

"It actually tasted pretty good. Fruity and a slight creamy texture towards the end."
Wajeh Hassan, Amazon
"This green juice isn't bad. It blends well without lots of clumps. It tastes ‘green,’ but it is palatable. It's not something you want to sip on, so you may want to consume it quickly."
Donna A., Amazon
"I can consume it in water as long as I stir it vigorously. The berry flavor is pretty distinct, and I don't think it would mesh well with everything."
Sam, Amazon

Why I Recommend Live it Up Super Greens

Live it Up Super Greens Package With Featured on Forbes Label

To recap, Júce Sport Greens is full of great ingredients that should point to high nutritional value. Looking at dosages and the short list of vitamin and mineral content, I'm just not seeing what I'd hope to see in a dietary supplement.

If I'm going to recommend a greens powder to my clients, it's going to be a delicious, comprehensive formula like Live it Up Super Greens. Live it Up provides organic vegetables, superfoods, probiotics, and a long list of essential vitamins and minerals that can supplement a balanced diet and help you meet your health goals. This greens supplement also comes in two great flavors you’ll feel good about drinking every day.

Of course, every individual is different with unique health concerns and goals, but Live it Up Super Greens is my choice for an overall high-quality greens powder.

FAQs About Júce Sport Greens

How much caffeine is in Júce Sport Greens?

There is no caffeine in Júce Sport Greens. Although its prebiotic and antioxidant blend contains green tea shoots and leaves, Terra Kai Organics states on its website that all of its green tea and coffee bean ingredients have been decaffeinated. Green tea leaf is included for its potential antioxidant properties and possible benefits such as support for cognitive function.

Can you take too much super greens powder?

Yes. Most greens supplements have a recommended daily dosage and frequency listed on the label, and you should carefully read and follow any precautions on the packaging. Check nutrient contents and avoid taking too many additional supplements to avoid vitamin or mineral toxicity. It’s normal to experience some side effects from a greens supplement at first.

Is it better to take super greens in the morning or at night?

It’s generally better to take super greens in the morning, and many supplement brands recommend that you consume greens as part of your morning routine. A product such as Live it Up Super Greens can serve as a healthy alternative to morning caffeine and help provide nutrients that you may need for sustained energy throughout the day. However, you can take your greens at any time of day, and should consume them when it’s best for you.

What happens when you start taking super greens?

When you start taking a super greens supplement, you may initially experience some common side effects. These can include mild digestive upset, interactions with medications you’re taking, and potential allergic reactions. To mitigate these effects, be sure to talk to your healthcare provider before adding a supplement to your diet. Carefully read product labels to ensure that they don’t contain allergens and weren’t processed in a facility that processes allergens.
