Bottom Line: Is Kuli Kuli Super Greens Worth a Try?
Kuli Kuli Super Greens caught my attention because of the company’s commitment to high-quality, organic ingredients and affordable price. But between the unpleasant flavor and sparse ingredient list, I think your money is perhaps better spent on a superfood smoothie than on Kuli Kuli Super Greens.
Although the company prioritizes sustainably-grown, science-backed ingredients like moringa, it lacks gut health support and tastes too earthy. Live it Up Super Greens is still my professional, dietitian recommendation because of its robust nutrients, enjoyable flavors, and gut health ingredients.
What Is Kuli Kuli?
The guiding mission of Kuli Kuli is to nourish “people and the planet with nutrient-rich, climate-smart, and community-grown superfoods.” Founder Lisa Curtis drew upon her experience in the Peace Corp where she worked along female farmers in Niger and discovered nutrient-dense moringa in a snack called “kuli kuli.”
Today, her company’s line of moringa superfood supplements are designed to make it easier than ever to get moringa in your daily diet. Kuli Kuli also makes a variety of superfood powder products focused around baobab.
Kuli Kuli’s products are USDA certified organic, sourced directly from farmers in remote rural areas, and third-party tested.
Kuli Kuli Greens Purported Benefits and Ingredients
Kuli Kuli keeps their ingredient list simple, which is why it is unsurprising that the company only claims two purported benefits—nutrition and vitality. Kuli Kuli Greens Superfood Blend uses a blend of organic broccoli, organic moringa, organic barley grass, and organic wheatgrass.

Since there are so few ingredients, it’s likely each serving of Kuli Kuli offers effective doses of each ingredient:
- Moringa is packed with vitamin A, 3 different B vitamins, vitamin C, calcium, potassium, iron, and magnesium
- Broccoli is filled with vitamins A, C, and K plus calcium, potassium, and iron
- Barley grass features vitamins C, A, magnesium, calcium, phosphorus, and antioxidants
- Wheatgrass contains vitamins A, C, E, iron, and a variety of amino acids
Benefit #1: Vitality
Vitality and energy is Kuli Kuli’s biggest health claim. Vitamin C is essential for the energy creation, so it would make sense that the Super Greens Superfood blend supports day-to-day vitality. However, the exact vitamin C quantities are not disclosed on the nutrition label, so I’m uncertain whether you're actually getting sufficient vitamin C. B vitamins, which are perhaps some of the most important vitamins for energy, are also notably absent from the nutrition label.
Of the 5 vitamins and mineral quantities disclosed, Kuli Kuli does not contain any vitamin D, which lessens the likelihood that the formula offers the true vitality benefits it claims to. Though the product contains iron and potassium, both of which play a role in energy production, the quantities are only a very small percentage of the recommended daily value (6% and 2% DV, respectively).
Benefit #2: Nutrition
As touched on above, Kuli Kuli only lists 5 vitamins and minerals, many of which are only present in very small, or nonexistent, quantities. The product’s ingredients are inherently nutrient-rich, so the powder may provide the dense nutrition it claims to. However, without a more thorough supplement facts panel, I remain skeptical whether the product offers sufficient nutritional value.
Also of note is the lack of probiotics, prebiotics, or digestive enzymes, especially because gut health is closely linked to overall wellness, including mental health and immunity. Compared to other products like Live it Up Super Greens you’re missing out on potential micronutrients that would support gut health and digestion; instead, you’re getting approximately the same, or less, nutrition as you would in a leafy green salad.
Kuli Kuli Greens Quality and Safety
Kuli Kuli is USDA certified organic, indicating that their ingredients are extremely high quality and grown without pesticides, herbicides, and other toxins. The product is also third-party tested for safety, quality, and cleanliness, and all ingredients are sourced from rural farms to support small farms across the U.S. and give back to the planet.
As far as allergens go, Kuli Kuli Super Greens Superfood Blend is vegan, plant-based, and non-GMO. Though the product webpage and packaging do not indicate whether it’s gluten-free, Kuli Kuli’s FAQs claim that their products are free of gluten.
Kuli Kuli Greens Cost Analysis
Considering that Kuli Kuli contains only 4 ingredients, it’s unsurprising that it is less expensive than other supergreen powders.
- Single purchase: $19.99 for 28-serving pouch ($0.71 per serving)
- Subscription: $16.99 for 28-serving pouch ($0.61 per serving)
- Shipping: Free for subscribers; cost determined by location
I was disappointed to see that one pouch contains only 28 servings instead of a month’s full 30-day supply. I came across some reviewers—although they were reviewing different Kuli Kuli superfood blends that were packaged in a similar 6oz pouch—who mentioned that if taken as recommended (2tsp per day), the 6oz bag does not last for the full 28 days, requiring more frequent purchases.
If you're dissatisfied with your Kuli Kuli order, the company offers a 30-day return policy, regardless of the reason.
Kuli Kuli Greens Taste Review
Kuli Kuli contains no stevia, flavorings, or sweeteners of any kind. Unsurprisingly, many reviewers describe the taste of Kuli Kuli as “grassy,” “a bit funky,” or unpleasant. I gave Kuli Kuli a try and found that it was significantly less enjoyable compared to other greens powders with natural sweeteners, fruits, or botanicals in their blends. Compared to the slightly minty or fruity, sweet flavor of Live it Up Super Greens, Kuli Kuli definitely tastes like what it’s made of—just greens.
Here are some verified reviews from customers regarding Kuli Kuli’s taste:
As far as texture goes, some customers report needing a frother to adequately emulsify the green powder. I also found this to be the case, with grainy residue gathering when I mixed the powder into both juice, and later only with water. Many customers use this powder successfully in smoothies, which likely also masks the taste and texture.
Overall, I think Kuli Kuli’s flavor is only worth it if you drink smoothies regularly. Another tip I found in reviews is mixing Kuli Kuli with protein powder to mask the flavor. When mixed in water or juice, I can readily attest that the experience was far less enjoyable than Live it Up Super Greens, which is delicious on its own and doesn’t need to be masked by other flavors.
Why I Recommend Live it Up Super Greens

In my professional opinion, Kuli Kuli superfood powder has excellent quality standards and potent ingredients. The favor it earns with its affordable price, however, doesn’t make up for the earthy flavor, lack of gut support, and sparse vitamin and mineral content. Though Kuli Kuli may work for some, you would likely get the same (or more) nutrients from eating plenty of veggies everyday.
Live it Up is my recommendation for anyone wanting to better their overall health and fill gaps that are hard to get in the modern diet. For $1.33 per serving, you can’t beat Live it Up’s excellent probiotic count, digestive enzymes, antioxidants, and 20+ superfoods. The formula is packed with organic vegetables and goes through third-party testing to ensure quality in every scoop.
Perhaps most importantly, Live it Up doesn’t taste like other green powders—both the Original and Wild Berries flavors find the perfect balance between sweet and refreshing, without any traces of earthy or grassy flavors or artificial sweeteners. In my opinion, Live it Up is an enjoyable addition to any morning routine and one that provides the naturally energizing nutrients your body needs.
Of course, everyone’s health is different so it is important to take your time researching options.Still, if you’re looking for a balanced, affordable, and delicious way to get your greens, I encourage you to give Live it Up Super Greens a try.
