Morning Complete Review: Can It Really Activate Your Health?

Morning Complete may help the digestive system, but it lacks some nutrient-rich ingredients vital to overall daily health and wellness.

Morning Complete Review: Can It Really Activate Your Health?

In this article:

Greens supplements aren’t one-size-fits-all, so what works for one person might not be effective for another. That’s why I’ve set out to research different greens powders on the market and get a better idea of which products might work for my clients’ unique health goals.

I’ve been seeing a lot of ActivatedYou reviews out there, so I thought it was time to do a deep-dive into Morning Complete, a new celebrity greens powder. Although this product offers some significant benefits, mainly in the digestive support area, (spoiler alert) Live it Up Super Greens still outshines Morning Complete.

This ActivatedYou Morning Complete review covers the big picture and more granular takeaways, filling you in on the supplement’s ingredients, purported health benefits, quality and testing processes, taste, and price.

Morning Complete Quick Facts

  • Key ingredients:
    • 10 billion CFUs of probiotics
    • Superfoods like broccoli, spinach, kale, barley grass, and pomegranate
    • Herbs and spices like turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, and the adaptogen astragalus
    • Green and white tea extracts
  • Flavors:
    • Apple Cinnamon
    • Citrus Medley
    • Mixed Berry
  • Manufacturer health claims: Supports digestion, energy levels, metabolism, relaxation, and overall health and wellness.
  • Possible side effects: ActivatedYou doesn’t list any side effects of Morning Complete, but any greens powder may have potential effects, such as
    • Digestive upset and gas
    • Rare allergic reactions
    • Potential contraindications with prescriptions
  • Container size: 30 servings (one scoop per serving)
  • Nutrition facts (Apple Cinnamon flavor): One 7.6g scoop =
    • 15 calories
    • 5g of carbohydrates
    • 4g of fiber
  • Price:
    • $79.99 for 30 servings ($2.66 per serving)
    • $49.99 for 30 servings with a subscription ($1.66 per serving)
  • Shipping: Free shipping for orders over $49

Bottom Line: Is Morning Complete Worth a Try?

Morning Complete is a decent option for people who need a boost in their daily digestive support, but for a product that describes itself as a “powerful daily wellness drink,” it’s lacking in other areas, like its delivery of greens and nutrients. Compared to Live it Up Super Greens, which is caffeine-free, organic, less expensive, includes recommended amounts of ingredients, and lists all of the vitamins and minerals in each serving, Morning Complete just doesn’t stack up, in my opinion.

What Is ActivatedYou Morning Complete?

Actor Maggie Q (who you may know from The Protege or the Divergent series) founded ActivatedYou around 2017 after struggling with her own health issues. She created the supplement company so that others could prioritize their health and live a more balanced life through “unique, effective formulas.”

Morning Complete is intended as a once-daily greens and probiotics supplement, aiming to support individuals’ overall wellness. In addition to the greens powder, the company sells various products that target specific areas of health, either in powder or capsule form.

Morning Complete Pros

  • Features nine different strains of probiotics for gut health
  • Includes a variety of superfoods, antioxidants, and adaptogens
  • Vegan and non-GMO
  • Gluten-free, nut-free, soy-free, and dairy-free
  • Third-party tested and GMP-certified
  • Free of artificial sweeteners
  • 90-day money-back guarantee

Morning Complete Cons

  • No nutrients listed other than fiber
  • Missing key greens like spirulina, chlorella, and wheatgrass
  • Adaptogens are underdosed
  • Only two organic ingredients
  • Contains caffeine from green tea and white tea extracts
  • Mixed consumer reviews and results
  • Includes guar gum and rice hull

Morning Complete Purported Benefits

Though ActivatedYou makes a number of health claims, let’s unpack the product’s top three purported benefits and how they’re substantiated.

Morning Complete's Health Benefits Include Healthy Metabolism, Digestion, Energy, Bloating, and Relaxation

Benefit #1: Gut Health

I found that Morning Complete really delivers on its claim to “support regular digestive function.” From the nine strains of live probiotics, totalling 10 billion CFUs, to its prebiotic and fiber blend, Morning Complete may be the digestive boost that many people need in their diets. Specifically, the beneficial bacteria in the probiotic blend may help promote regular bowel movements and normal immune health.

However, I’m concerned with the inclusion of aloe vera leaf. Studies have shown a correlation between aloe vera leaf ingestion and subsequent stomach upset, cramping, and diarrhea (symptoms that some Morning Complete reviews have reported), all of which can disrupt natural gut flora.

Dietitian Tip: While it’s not always necessary to include a prebiotic and probiotic together, probiotics may be more effective when paired with prebiotic fiber.

Benefit #2: Energy and Metabolism

Morning Complete features leafy greens that act as fatigue-fighters. These foods give you a steady energy supply, as the complex carbs take longer to break down. Plus, this greens powder formula includes whole-food extracts that may boost metabolism.

However, Morning Complete does not list any vitamins or minerals on its Supplement Facts panel. Without confirmation that it delivers key energy-supporting nutrients like iron, zinc, magnesium, and B-complex vitamins, I’m unsure whether the product lives up to these claims.

Another concern I have with Morning Complete’s energy delivery is caffeine, as it includes both green and white tea leaf extracts. Although caffeinated beverages can fight fatigue, they don’t last very long—spikes typically followed by energy crashes. Anyone sensitive to the side effects of caffeine should consider a caffeine-free greens supplement.

Benefit #3: Relaxation

Adaptogens can have a powerful effect on the body’s ability to cope with stress, and Morning Complete does include ingredients with adaptogenic qualities, like Rhodiola rosea root extract and astragalus root extract.

While these can help you relax, the total amount of the Adaptogens blend is only 55mg total, so these ingredients are underdosed and may not be as effective as Morning Complete claims. The recommended dose for Rhodiola rosea alone is anywhere between 100-576mg.

Morning Complete Ingredients

ActivatedYou Morning Complete contains eight ingredient blends. Here, I’m analyzing the blends with the highest amounts per serving.

Morning Complete Supplement Facts Panel, Featuring a Prebiotic and High Fiber Blend and a Green Superfoods Blend

Prebiotic and High Fiber Blend

With 4g of fiber, Morning Complete offers a recommended individual dose of gut-friendly ingredients in the form of organic tapioca fiber and cinnamon bark. But this blend accounts for more than half of every serving (7.6g) of the greens powder.

While prebiotics and fiber are vital, a well-rounded supplement should include recommended amounts of other ingredients and micronutrients for complete nutrition. None of the other blends equal even 1 gram.

Green Superfoods Blend

While the Green Superfoods Blend contains heavy hitters like spinach, broccoli, kale, alfalfa leaf, mulberry leaf extract, and barley grass, it’s missing powerhouses that you’d expect in a greens powder, like spirulina, chlorella, and wheatgrass.

I also want to add that this blend only weighs in at about three-quarters of a gram, so I’m skeptical that a small amount like this would even be effective. Compared to other brands like Live it Up Super Greens, Morning Complete is lacking a daily serving of greens.

Metabolic Enhancing Blend

This blend includes 390mg of green tea leaf extract, ginger root, white tea leaf extract, turmeric root extract, bitter melon fruit extract, and black pepper. All of these ingredients may help with inflammation, energy, and metabolism. For example, tea extracts and black pepper have been shown to have energy-targeting and antioxidant qualities.

But again, will the low quantity of this blend really have an effect on someone’s energy levels and metabolism? That’s unclear.

Other Morning Complete Ingredients

Each Morning Complete greens powder serving includes four other blends (not including probiotics), each of which is at or under 100mg.

  • Antioxidant Blend (lycium berry, pomegranate fruit extract, Polygonum cuspidatum root extract)
  • Sugar Balancing Support (Gymnema sylvestre leaf, fennel seed, pine bark extract)
  • Adaptogens (astragalus root extract, Rhodiola rosea root extract, diindolylmethane)
  • Cellular Function and Liver Support (aloe vera leaf, milk thistle seed extract)

These roots, fruits, and greens can deliver several benefits in the right quantities, but with this formula, they’re largely underdosed. I was also disappointed to see the additive guar gum and the filler rice hull on the ingredients list. Despite their small size, I believe their space in the formula would’ve been better served to provide an effective dose of one of the included superfoods.

Morning Complete Quality and Safety

ActivatedYou claims that all of its products, including Morning Complete, are manufactured at FDA-registered cGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practice) facilities. Independent labs conduct third-party testing for quality, potency, and purity and to ensure that products are free from contaminants and soy.

While the quality and safety testing for Morning Complete seems to be thorough, I wish that all of the ingredients were organic. Only two ingredients (tapioca fiber and rice hull concentrate) are listed as organic. To compare, Live it Up Super Greens has 20+ organic foods.

Dietitian Tip: I urge clients to buy organic when they can because organic ingredients often include fewer pesticides, herbicides, and genetic modifications than non-organic options.

Morning Complete Cost Analysis

The price per serving of Morning Complete is a bit higher than other greens supplements, many of which include more transparent nutrient lists and organic foods.

  • Single purchase: $79.99 for 30-serving jar ($2.66 per serving)
  • Subscription: $49.99 for 30-serving jar ($1.66 per serving)
  • Shipping: Free for US orders over $49

To compare, Live it Up Super Greens is $1.33 per serving with a subscription ($1.99 without) and every customer gets free shipping no matter what, so you’ll get more bang for your buck.

ActivatedYou’s return policy is pretty impressive. Customers have 90 days to return their product for whatever reason, even if the jar is empty, for a full refund. All you have to do is pay the return shipping fee.

Morning Complete Taste Review

This greens powder comes in three flavorsApple Cinnamon, Citrus Medley, and Mixed Berry—which are sweetened with lo han guo extract and Reb A (a form of stevia). ActivatedYou Morning Complete reviews are mixed, so I wanted to draw my own conclusions about the taste and consistency.

I tried the Apple Cinnamon and thought that the taste was, well, not great. Like some reviewers, I had to mix the powder with other flavored beverages or smoothies to mask the unnatural taste. According to several customer reviews, people feel similarly about the berry and citrus flavors.

Customers also give Morning Complete fewer stars for its clumpy texture when mixed with water. For example, one person says, “It settles to the bottom. [I] need to mix it every time I take a drink.” I wouldn’t want to recommend a product that can’t be combined easily with water, as that’s often the most accessible option for busy people.

But it’s worth noting that of the more than 5,000 Morning Complete reviews on Amazon, many mention that it can be worth the investment if you look past the downsides. One verified Amazon customer review says: “Overall, I’d recommend giving it a try if you’re looking for a well-rounded morning supplement, but be prepared for the earthy taste and the price tag. It’s not perfect, but it’s a solid option!”

After trying Morning Complete, I still choose Live it Up Super Greens for its two pleasant-tasting flavors, smooth texture, and ability to mix well with water.

Morning Complete FAQs

Find out the answers to commonly asked questions about Morning Complete.

Does Morning Complete work?

Morning Complete may support enhanced digestive function and energy levels, but that is dependent on the individual. The greens powder formula likely underdoses several ingredients and it doesn’t list any specific vitamins and minerals, so it’s unclear how effective this supplement is.

Does Morning Complete have side effects?

Yes, it seems that Morning Complete does have side effects. As with any supplement that has probiotics, consumers may experience some digestive discomfort, but many Morning Complete reviews mention that this product made them feel nauseous or severely bloated. Having studied the nutrition panel, I believe the large amount of dietary fiber and the inclusion of aloe vera create a greater risk of digestive upset. If any symptoms are prolonged or severe, stop taking the product and consult your healthcare provider.

How much caffeine is in Morning Complete?

It’s unclear how much caffeine is in Morning Complete, as the exact amounts for both green tea leaf extract and white tea leaf extract are not listed. These extracts are included in a blend with other ingredients, totalling 390mg. Some online sources note that there is 6mg of caffeine provided by the green tea, but I couldn’t verify this information on ActivatedYou’s website.

Should Morning Complete be taken on an empty stomach?

ActivatedYou recommends taking Morning Complete in the morning before you eat, but some reviews note that doing so made them feel nauseous. If you experience nausea with this product, try taking it after a meal instead.

What is the best gut health supplement?

The best gut health supplement should help you reach your unique health goals, supporting digestion with the right amount of prebiotics, probiotics, and digestive enzymes from real foods. I recommend greens powders like Live it Up Super Greens because they provide a convenient and healthy way to boost your intake of greens, providing balanced digestive support with all-natural ingredients.
