If youâre reading this then itâs because youâve taken the decision to improve your health, and thatâs the most important first step, so well done! Choosing from the huge selection of supplements and greens powders can seem overwhelming.
As a registered dietitian, Iâve broken down the formulas and health claims for Juice Plus+ vs. Live it Up Super Greens to see which comes out on top. Though Juice Plus+ has a lot of great ingredients, I believe Live it Up outranks the supplement in a few key ways. Letâs see why.
4 Dietitian Reasons to Choose Live it Up Over Juice Plus+
There are several compelling reasons why Live it Up stands out over Juice Plus+. Here are the top ones:
1. Live it Up is all-natural
All the vitamins and minerals delivered in Live it Up Super Greens are naturally occurring from organic vegetables. In addition, the blend doesnât include any added sugars, artificial sweeteners, or food preservatives.
While the Juice Plus+ Fruit and Vegetable blend capsules also omit artificial sweeteners, added sugars, and artificial flavors, its micronutrient content seems to be derived from synthetic supplements, which are known to be nutritionally inferior.
2. Live it Up supports complete digestion
One of the most significant potential benefits of Live it Up Super Greens is that it also offers digestive support, which comes in the form of probiotics, dietary fiber, and digestive enzymes.
Their importance in a healthy, balanced diet canât be underestimated, from helping to restore the balance of gut bacteria, to supporting your digestive and immune system and helping to break down food. However, these gut-supporting ingredients are notably absent from Juice Plus+ Fruit and Vegetable capsules.
3. Live it Up features balanced nutrition
A balanced diet is crucial to helping your body be healthy, and the best greens powders can help fill the nutritional gaps where dietary intake is lacking. However, the blend needs to offer balanced nutrition, and in the case of Live it Up Super Greens, we see a comprehensive list of 22 natural-occurring vitamins, minerals, and essential nutrients.
Looking at the nutritional information of Juice Plus+, however, we only see the nutritional information for vitamins C, A, E, and folate. And, when the Fruit and Vegetable blends are taken together, the quantities of vitamins A and E largely exceed recommended values.
The company also states that the capsules are not a significant source of vitamin D, calcium, iron, or potassium, and no other vitamins or minerals are mentioned. That means youâll need additional supplements on top of Juice Plus+ to meet your daily needs.
4. Live it Up offers better value for money
Live it Up Super Greens costs just $1.33 per serving with a subscription while offering a comprehensive formula that supports digestion, immune resilience, and energy levels. Juice Plus+ comes in on the higher end of the market at $1.80 per serving yet, in my opinion, offers less value for money.
Juice Plus+ Overview
Juice Plus+ has been around for over 50 years and was founded by Chairman Jay Martin in 1970. It began as a small, direct-sales company and grew over the years, mainly thanks to the launch of its Fruit and Vegetable Blend Capsules in 1993. Juice Plus+ offers a number of products, including chewables, shakes, and bars.Â
Juice Plus+ claims these are âthe next best thing to fruits and vegetablesâ and that they support immunity, lung function, healthy skin, and a number of other health targets.

Juice Plus+ Nutrition Facts
Juice Plus+ offers limited information on the nutritional content of its Fruit and Vegetable Blend Capsules, leading me to assume it only offers what it says and nothing more. In fact, the Juice Plus+ website goes further, stating that the greens supplement isnât a significant source of vitamin D, calcium, iron, or potassium.

A serving size is two capsules a day of each blend (four capsules total). Nutritionally they include:
- Some 40+ different ingredients total across the two blends with a variety of fruits and vegetables.
- When taken together as recommended, they offer Daily Value (DV) intakes of 160% vitamin A, 140% vitamin C, 95% vitamin E, and 85% folate.
- Both blends contain 0g of fat and protein, and 1g of carbohydrate (fiber), which is 0% of the Daily Value intake.Â
- Each blend contains 5 calories, making a total of 10 calories per serving.
Prospective customers may want to note that while Fruit Plus+ lists many different ingredients, it doesnât offer quantities, and the nutritional information is minimal, so we are unaware of the effective doses and likely benefits.Â
Juice Plus+ Ingredients
The combined blends offer a variety of fruits and vegetables, including:
- Leafy greens like broccoli, spinach, kale, and cabbage
- Root vegetables like carrot and beetroot
- Fruits, such as apple, cranberry, orange, mango, peach, and pineapple
-
Synthetic vitamin supplements:Â
- Calcium carbonate
- Lutein/ zeaxanthin (an antioxidant which may support eye health)
- Sunflower d-a-Tocopherol (vitamin E)
- Beta carotene (source of vitamin A)
- Lycopene (antioxidant)
- Astaxanthin (antioxidant). While most astaxanthin is derived from salmon, trout, or shrimp, we must assume this is derived from algae as the product is labeled vegan and kosher.Â
- Mixed tocopherols, which is a supplement mixture of several types of vitamin E
Juice Plus+ Quality and Safety
Juice Plus+ products have been sold for many years, and the brand has a strong reputation for safety and quality. It conducts human clinical trials, including 33 trials on the capsules, and publishes its results on the website.Â
In addition, Juice Plus+ claims its products adhere to FDA standards for âidentity, purity, strength, and compositionâ (although they are not FDA tested), and its facilities are also monitored by the FDA. The brand also states that all its products are certified by the third-party safety and quality certification program National Sanitary Foundation (NSF).

Live it Up Quality and Safety
When recommending greens supplements to my clients, I always stress how important it is to ensure that any product they choose is third-party tested and made with high-quality ingredients. This is one of the reasons that Live it Up is always one of my most recommended brands.
To start with, Live it Up Super Greens is made from non-GMO, all-natural ingredients, which are dairy-free, gluten-free, nut-free, filler-free, and sugar-free. But the brand takes this further, ensuring that all their products are made in GMP-certified facilities and are all third-party tested. This allows them to offer products that are free from any chemicals, heavy metals, or contaminants.
Juice Plus+ vs. Live it Up Potential Health Benefits
Below, I analyze the purported benefits of Juice Plus vs. Live it Up to see if they are likely to do what they are claiming.
Juice Plus+ Purported Benefits
Juice Plus+ has an enormous list of health claims, more than many other brands, and so this already raises some question marks in my mind. While powdered greens blends (or capsules in this instance) play an important role in supporting daily health, they are not a replacement for a balanced diet and simply canât do everything.
Some of the top purported benefits of Juice Plus+ Fruit and Vegetable Blend Capsules are:
- Immune Function: Juice Plus+ conducts studies and human trials and publishes them on their website. However, these results are tenuous with regard to immunity.Â
- Gut Health: The trial relating to gut health showed some limited support, and the lack of digestive enzymes and probiotics plus minimal fiber means this product is unlikely to make much impact on digestive health.Â
- Cognitive Function: A clinical trial showed improvement in short-term memory in human test subjects. However, antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables, such as chlorella, berries, burdock root, alfalfa, and ginger root, are noticeably missing from the blend.
Live it Up Purported Benefits
As a registered dietitian, I recommend Live it Up to my patients because of its broad range of potential health benefits and its carefully selected list of nutrient- and vitamin-dense ingredients, as well as probiotics and digestive enzymes. These are some of the reasons why I think this super greens powder is one of the best out there:
- Immune Function: Support for the immune system is thanks to antioxidant-rich ingredients like leafy greens and blue-green algae.
- Gut Health: 5 billion CFU probiotics, 3 digestive enzymes, and 3 grams of fiber support gut health along with ingredients like dandelion, alfalfa, and ginger.Â
- Energy Levels: Supports balanced energy through B-vitamins, including B1, B2, B3, B6, and B12, which can aid metabolism, as well as magnesium and iron that support the production of energy. The blend does this without green tea extract or caffeine.
- Overall Wellness: Live it Upâs daily greens powder is rich in essential nutrients and can help support your well-being and healthy eating practices. Ingredients like spirulina, burdock root, and moringa, amongst others, are nutrient-dense, offering vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that you may not be getting from your diet.Â

Customer Satisfaction
I also evaluated customer responses to these products. Juice Plus+ seems to have a mixed selection of reviews.
Many customers report benefits from taking the capsules. âI have been taking them since 2022, life got hectic last year and I missed about a week of my capsules, and I could really feel the difference.â ~Julie-Anne
However, Juice Plus+ also has some dissatisfied customers, many of whom complain about a lack of results and poor customer service. âAbsolutely horrible customer service experience. They basically lock you into a contract and continue charging you monthly even after you've canceled.â ~K Lewis
Live it Up, on the other hand, has impressive reviews, and I found it difficult to find many dissatisfied customers across the many reviews I read. Both the products and customer service are well-regarded by those who have tried them.
One reviewer said, âLoving Live it Up! I have been drinking Live it Up Greens for several months after switching from a long-time, more expensive greens powder. The taste is great, I am feeling more energized, and my skin is glowing!â.
Get Your Nutrient Boost from Live it Up

As I always stress to my clients, each person is unique and has different nutritional needs. There wonât be a one-size-fits-all solution, and a healthy, balanced diet with fresh produce is vital in supporting optimum health.Â
I strongly recommend Live it Up Super Greens to my clients to support their daily health thanks to the brandâs all-natural philosophy, essential vitamins and minerals, gut support blend, and absolutely nothing added but whole-food ingredients. Super Greens is also affordable, has been recognized for good customer support, and is one of the best-tasting greens powders out there.
Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some of the FAQs that I get asked most about these brands.
What are the side effects of Juice Plus+?
Specific side effects are not listed on the Juice Plus+ website, although they do state that everyone will respond differently to the capsules. Some reviews have highlighted difficulty swallowing them, while others report digestive issues, which can be normal when starting a new supplement. Itâs important to talk to your doctor before starting anything new if you have existing medical conditions or are on medications.Â
What are the side effects of Live it Up Super Greens?
Live it Up Super Greens is free from dairy, nuts, soy, and gluten and therefore poses little risk of adverse effects for those common allergens. It is also produced in a GMP-certified facility. Side effects like bloating and gas or mild digestive upset are possible with all dietary supplements and may occur when starting to use this product.Â
What are the issues with Juice Plus+?
Juice Plus+ is a long-standing brand with a good track record. However, many customers have reviewed the customer service negatively, as the company uses representatives to sell the products on subscription-only plans for which they receive a commission.
Customers have reported issues with canceling the subscription, and there are reviews about how difficult the capsules are to swallow. Other superfood brands like Live it Up offer a single purchase option that doesn't tie you into a subscription.Â
Why should I take a greens powder?
Good question! While powdered greens blends shouldnât replace a good diet, they offer support for daily health, plugging the nutritional gaps in your diet and offering missing nutrients, vitamins, and probiotics. One of the best greens powders on the market is Live it Up Super Greens, which is designed to help with gut health, immune resilience, and energy levels.Â
