This Vegan Yogurt Parfait is not only delicious, it's healthy too! Layering dairy-free yogurt, chia jam, and refined sugar-free granola, this parfait can be a great breakfast or even a dessert.
Ever go to a fancy restaurant or cafe and see a pretty parfait in one of those glass cases looking all perfect? I always want one of those.
I don't ever order one for 2 reasons:
- They are almost never vegan
- They're usually loaded with sugar
So I decided to make my own version to share with you in case you wanted something fancy to impress guests...or for yourself, because you deserve something pretty to eat.
Indulge in an irresistible combination of flavors and nourish your body with this delectable Vegan Berry Yogurt Parfait. Bursting with both taste and nutritional benefits, this wholesome treat is perfect for breakfast or dessert. Delicately layering luscious dairy-free yogurt mixed with Live it Up Super Greens, homemade chia jam, and a delightful blend of granola without refined sugars, every spoonful will transport you to a world of pure delight.Â
Have you ever gazed longingly at the elegant parfaits displayed in glass cases at fancy restaurants or cafes? I know the feeling all too well, but unfortunately, they rarely cater to vegans, and their sugar-laden contents often leave much to be desired.Â
That's why I've taken matters into my own hands and created a vegan-friendly version. Now, you can indulge in a gorgeous parfait that not only impresses guests but also satisfies your own cravings. Let's face it: everyone deserves a delectable treat to savor.
What Is a Parfait Exactly?
A parfait comes from the French word meaning "perfect." In France, a parfait is made by boiling cream, egg, sugar, and syrup to create a cold custardy dish. The American version includes things like granola, nuts, yogurt, and/or fruit that are layered and served in a tall glass. These are great for brunch, everyday snacks, a special occasion like Mother's Day, or someone's birthday breakfast.
A Healthy Twist On Parfaits
Because parfaits are often made with yogurt, granola, and fruit or other toppings, people assume they're healthy (as did I), but au contraire, mon frèreâthey usually are not. Hereâs what to look out for when building your ideal plant-based parfait:
Yogurt
Yogurts can be laden with sugar. In this parfait, you don't need your yogurt to be sweetened because the chia jam is already sweetened by the berries, and there's a bit of maple syrup in both the jam and granola.
If you're looking for some tasty unsweetened dairy-free yogurts, my favorites are So Delicious, Anita's, and Kite Hill.
Granola
In granola, oats themselves are great for overall health and wellness support because of the soluble fiber in them. Soluble fiber forms a gel-like material which can help keep you feeling full and regular.
However, we don't want them covered in sugar, which would undo many of the health benefits, so check the ingredient label on any granola you buy. Alternatively, itâs easy to make your own with simple oats, nuts, and maple syrup.
Toppings
Now comes the best partâtoppings! Almost any fruit can be great for parfaits, but I particularly love berries. You can also elevate the nutritional content and work to improve gut health wwith this parfait by incorporating a greens powder like Live it Up Super Greens, one of the best greens powders for bloating and top alternatives to AG1 into the mix. Made with superfoods and organic vegetables, Super Greens is a fantastic way to boost the nutrient density of your parfait, along with a little minty kick that goes great with berries.Â
Simply sprinkle a teaspoon or two of the powder into your yogurt layer to enjoy it with your dish. This addition will further support the healthful profile of your parfait, making it an even more nourishing and visually stunning treat.
