Daily Elements vs. Live it Up: Why Dietitians Love Super Greens

Simpler isn’t necessarily better when it comes to comprehensive nutrition.

Daily Elements vs. Live it Up: Why Dietitians Love Super Greens
In this article:
In this article:

As a registered dietitian, I frequently try new greens powders to see how they compare to my best recommendations for clients. I recently tried Daily Elements, a four-ingredient microgreens supplement that claims to be more nutrient-dense than other super greens powders. Intrigued by the lean ingredients list, I knew I had to compare it to my standby greens powder, Live it Up Super Greens.

While the simple formula seems impressive at first, I quickly noticed where Daily Elements lacks nutritional coverage compared to Live it Up's more complete formula. I compared both greens powders by their nutrients, ingredients, quality, health benefits, taste, and cost—and realized that you can be too simple.

5 Dietitian Reasons to Choose Live it Up Over Daily Elements

Here are the top five reasons I recommend Live it Up to clients over Daily Elements and other greens powders:

1. Live it Up offers transparent nutrition

The most obvious difference when comparing the Supplement Facts for Daily Elements and Live it Up is the vitamin and mineral content. Daily Elements’ ingredients should, in theory, be packed with nutrients the body needs.

It doesn't list any vitamins and minerals, which makes me doubt some of Daily Elements’ health claims about support for immunity, energy, skin health, digestion, or inflammation.

Contrast that with Live it Up, which clearly lists more than 20 vitamins and nutrients with amounts per serving and daily value percentages. This makes it super easy for dietitians like myself to evaluate how it can help fill specific nutritional gaps for clients.

2. Live it Up offers comprehensive nutrition for overall wellness

Transparency about nutrient amounts aside, I’m also concerned that Daily Element’s bare-bones formula may not provide a comprehensive nutritional profile. It contains just four microgreens. While it claims these are not underdosed, it has just 1000mg of greens per serving. Live it Up, meanwhile, contains 7.3g (7,300mg) of more than 20 different superfoods.

Another claim is that microgreens are more nutrient-dense than mature greens. There is some evidence that microgreens are higher in certain nutrients, but studies have shown the opposite is true for others. I don’t think there’s enough evidence to claim that microgreens are so superior to other greens that you can have the same impact with a mere fraction of the quantity.

The microgreens in Daily Elements, like kale, are known for certain vitamins, namely A, B6, C, and K. The powder may also contain iron, copper, potassium, calcium, zinc, magnesium, and certain antioxidants. However, it completely lacks protein and dietary fiber. Conversely, Live it Up fills more gaps with all of those nutrients, vegan protein, and fiber, plus vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, and B12 and several additional minerals that support many areas of your health.

3. Live it Up has gut health support you can rely on

Daily Elements claims to help improve digestion, pointing to the fact that its kale microgreens are known to contain prebiotics and fiber, and that the anthocyanins in its red cabbage can help balance gut microbiota. However, the product label directly contradicts these claims with 0g of dietary fiber content. There's also no indication of whether kale or cabbage is present in high enough levels to provide these benefits. To top it off, the formula has no probiotic or enzyme content.

Live it Up Super Greens is the best greens powder I've found for clients needing balanced gut support. It contains 5 billion CFU of dairy-free probiotics, within the recommended effective dosage. It also features a digestive enzyme formula to help the body break down and process nutrients. Ingredients like ginger can also help with symptoms of digestive discomfort.

4. Live it Up impacts natural energy levels

For energy support, Daily Elements points to iron, potassium, and magnesium in its microgreens as aids for metabolic and muscle function. While there may be some truth to these claims, the lack of transparency about its nutrient content once again makes me doubt its ability to back them up.

Live it Up is rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants and has digestive enzymes to help process those nutrients. I can also point to ingredients like spirulina, which is packed with vitamin B6 and iron, as well as wheatgrass, which is rich in plant protein and antioxidants. All of these components make me confident that Live it Up can help aid and maintain energy levels for my clients.

5. Live it Up tastes delicious

While not directly related to nutrition, every dietitian knows the importance of taste and texture when incorporating a supplement into your morning routine. Daily Elements' simple four-ingredient formula is also its downfall, with no additional flavors besides the greens. The resulting taste may be too earthy and grassy for some to enjoy. Trying to mask the natural flavor can also make taking the supplement more complicated.

Live it Up solves this problem with a fresh and slightly sweet flavor profile across two flavors that comes from its use of monk fruit extract as a natural, sugar-free sweetener. The result is a super greens powder that tastes great with just water and mixes easily.

Dietitian Tip: Don't just look at the ingredients when choosing a supplement. The supplement facts should also show clear and effective doses of specific vitamins and minerals to achieve the results that you're looking for. Talk to your dietitian if you're unsure what dosages you need.

Daily Elements Overview

Daily Elements is a greens powder brand from Wider Fields, LLC, a company that produces microgreens and salad mixes. Daily Elements was created to make the health benefits of microgreens more accessible and convenient by increasing their shelf life in powder form. The microgreens in Daily Elements are grown, freeze-dried, and packaged in indoor vertical farming facilities in the United States without pesticides, herbicides, or additives.

The brand touts the benefit of growing all of its microgreens in-house and never outsourcing. Microgreens, which are immature vegetable plants grown for just ten to twelve days, may contain more of certain minerals than adult plants. These greens are freeze-dried to lock in nutrients and make them shelf-stable.

Daily Elements Quality and Safety

Daily Elements grows its microgreens in its own indoor vertical farm facilities in the U.S. These certified USDA GAP (Good Agricultural Practices) facilities ensure its ingredients contain no GMOs, pesticides, or herbicides. However, its microgreens aren't organic because they are grown hydroponically without soil.

Each batch of Daily Elements is third-party tested for contaminants, pathogens, and heavy metals. There are also no additives, flavorings, or sweeteners that could cause adverse reactions. Still, while it does follow Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) guidelines for growing its ingredients, it would be ideal to confirm that it follows those guidelines during manufacturing and distribution as well, the way Live it Up does.

Live it Up Super Greens Overview

Live it Up was founded in 2021 by Haim Nigri, who was inspired to make the abundance of fresh, nutritious foods in his home country of Brazil accessible to everyone. He launched the company with the original Super Greens powder, designed to target overall health while offering support for the gut, energy, and immune function.

Live it Up has since expanded its product offerings to include supplements for other health needs, along with an additional Super Greens flavor, Wild Berry. The fresh taste and smooth texture of Super Greens help it stand out among the grainy textures and grassy, earthy flavors of competing greens powders.

Daily Elements vs. Live it Up Potential Health Benefits

Below, I analyze the health claims made by Daily Elements and Live it Up Super Greens based on their ingredients and nutrient content.

Daily Elements Purported Benefits

Daily Elements claims that its four ingredients can provide a variety of health benefits, but it's worth looking closely at each to determine if those claims are valid.

  • Gut Health and Bloating: Daily Elements claims its fiber and prebiotic content aids with digestion and bloating, but it lists 0g of dietary fiber and lacks probiotics and digestive enzymes.
  • Immunity: Vitamins C, A, D, and E as well as zinc can all support immune function. Daily Elements doesn't list any of these in its supplement facts, but there may be some present given the potent microgreen ingredients.
  • Skin Health: Daily Elements points to vitamin A and antioxidants like beta-carotene as anti-inflammatory elements that contribute to healthy skin. These aren't listed in its supplement facts, so it's hard to assess this claim.

Live it Up Purported Benefits

Live it Up Super Greens claims to offer several health benefits, and it backs these up with specific nutrients and superfood ingredients. I confidently recommend Live it Up to clients for the following:

  • Gut Health: Live it Up offers comprehensive support for gut health and digestive discomfort with four strains of probiotics, 3 grams of fiber, a digestive enzyme complex, and ingredients such as ginger and peppermint.
  • Immunity: Live it Up contains leafy greens and algae full of immune-supporting vitamins and minerals like zinc and vitamins E and B6, as well as antioxidants.
  • Energy Levels: Rather than rely on caffeine, Live it Up provides natural, balanced energy through B vitamins including B1, B2, B3, B6, and B12, plus support for energy production via magnesium and iron.
Did You Know? Probiotics and digestive enzymes serve different purposes in the gut. Digestive enzymes occur naturally, and different enzymes help to break down different foods. Probiotics are living microorganisms that help fuel healthy gut bacteria. Look for a greens powder that contains both to achieve the most robust digestive support.

Taste Comparison

Both Daily Elements and Live it Up Super Greens powders are designed to dissolve in water or other beverages. While they’re similarly smooth, they have very different flavor profiles.

Daily Elements Microgreens Taste Live it Up Super Greens Taste
Flavor options Only one flavor, described as straight greens Original (minty) and Wild Berry
Sweetener No sweeteners used Monk fruit extract
Texture Smooth Smooth
Best with Tea, juice, smoothies Water, fruit juice, smoothies

Daily Elements reviews on taste are mixed. It doesn't use sugars, sweeteners, or flavoring, so it has an earthy, veggie-forward greens taste that some find hard to enjoy.

"I like to add it to my tea, as it really enhances those earthy, grassy, subtly sweet notes. I find it doesn't really mix well in just water,"
says verified buyer Violet F.
"It truly does taste like broccoli. I'm not a picky eater, and I don't really love the flavor,"
says verified buyer Carlena S.

Live it Up doesn't add sugar or artificial flavors, but it does use monk fruit extract as a sweetener alongside other natural flavors. This lends a fresh taste that sets Live it Up Super Greens apart for customers.

"The slightly minty taste is good. I like to mix with water and just a splash of green or pineapple juice."
Verified buyer Lisa C.
"The taste of the berry is a game changer. It dissolves really well and there is no weird aftertaste."
Verified buyer Virginia F.

Live it Up Super Greens Product Package With Featured on Forbes 2025 Label

Daily Elements makes some strong claims about the nutrient density of its microgreens powder and health benefits such as digestive support, immunity, and skin health. However, the brand doesn't detail the nutritional content of its powder, making it hard to back up its claims.

With just four ingredients, no fiber, probiotics, or digestive enzymes, it's hard to believe it can offer comprehensive wellness support. It also has an earthy taste and a high price tag relative to other brands.

All of that makes Live it Up Super Greens a much more appealing choice that is made with organic vegetables and probiotics. Live it Up has a robust, all-natural formula and is highly transparent about its nutrient content. More importantly, I know customers need to enjoy their supplements in order to make them a daily habit, and this greens powder has a refreshing taste that customers love drinking every day.

Super Greens offers clear nutritional value, listing all 22 vitamins and minerals in its formula, so that consumers can feel confident in its ability to support the immune system, gut function, and energy. Plus, it comes in two delicious flavors at an affordable price.

How do you use Daily Elements?

To use Daily Elements, simply mix a scoop into your beverage such as water, juice, tea, coffee, or smoothie, or sprinkle it on top of foods such as oatmeal or soups. Because of the earthy taste, consumers will likely prefer adding Daily Elements to a fruit smoothie to mask the taste.

What are the ingredients in Daily Elements?

The four ingredients in Daily Elements are broccoli, kale, red cabbage, and pea microgreens. Though they're some of the most nutrient-dense plants, these are the only greens in the formula, and there are no additional ingredients, flavorings, or sweeteners.

Is Daily Elements legit?

Yes, Daily Elements is a legitimate brand produced by Wider Fields, LLC, a microgreens producer. It grows its microgreens in indoor vertical farms, which helps the company control every step of the growing process and prevent contamination. It uses freeze-dried microgreens to increase the product’s shelf life and help preserve the nutrients. It claims to be the first supplement brand to create a greens powder entirely from microgreens, which are greens that have been harvested before maturing after just 10 to 12 days of growth.

Are greens powders good for you?

Yes, greens powders are good for you in that they can provide nutrients to supplement your regular diet of whole foods. If you have certain gaps in your nutrition, taking a daily greens powder with the right vitamin and mineral content can help balance your diet. Some greens powders also contain prebiotics, probiotics, and digestive enzymes that contribute to a healthy gut.

Is it okay to eat microgreens every day?

Yes, it is okay to eat microgreens every day. Microgreens are considered safe and have been studied for their potential nutrient density. Certain microgreens may contain higher concentrations of specific vitamins and minerals than mature vegetables, although this isn’t true in every case and more research is still needed.
